Holiday park in Somerset thanks NHS staff in the grass

Camping

The owners of a holiday park in Somerset wanted to thank the NHS staff in their own way during the lockdown.

Using a ride-on lawnmower, the owners of Warren Farm Holiday Centre in Brean cut out the letters ‘NHS’ in their lawn to thank the key workers in our health service.

The park’s staff wanted to show the NHS staff how much they appreciated the “amazing and tireless efforts”, according to park director, Mike Harris.

Mike and his brother, Chris, are the fifth generation of the Harris family to run the holiday park. The site was originally a dairy farm with a small camping field on it.

Over time, the family changed the site from the farm to the holiday park it is today. Warren Farm Holiday Centre now has 1,350 pitches for motorhomes, touring caravans, campervans, and holiday caravans.

The park is close to the famous five-mile long beach at Brean.

The new holiday park in Somerset features for post-lockdown

Mike Harris and his team keep their customers up to date on what’s happening on the site in the lockdown over social media. Their NHS sign in the lawn caused a stir with their followers.

When the lockdown ends, Mike says he’ll give customers a celebratory welcome pack. That’s not all. Mike says visitors will see new features they recently installed.

The features include 30 super-pitched for seasonal caravans with private, en suite showers, basins, toilets and storage areas.

They’re ideal for customers who don’t like sharing the facilities with other campers. And, for those who enjoy more privacy.

The super-pitches are so popular that there’s a waiting list. And, Mike has plans to add more pitches to meet demand.

He said:

“We hope eventually to be able to offer 150 of these super-pitches, including a number dedicated to short-stay visitors with tents and touring caravans.

“The first three of these short-stay pitches are already available and are always booked very early.”

Mike believes the super-pitches will be the norm soon. With the lockdown, it’s likely more people will want to holiday in the UK. And, they will seek value when they plan their holidays.

The popular holiday park in Somerset boasts a fishing lake, a play barn, a pet’s corner and a games field. Warren Farm’s clubhouse has a bar and restaurant too.
